NONPROFIT MEMBER: Breast Cancer Research Foundation
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is the largest private funder of metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research in the world. Founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, BCRF has employed a unique funding model that gives investigators the freedom to pursue their most innovative ideas and high-risk, high-reward science. We invest in the best and brightest minds—from those investigating prevention to metastasis—and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration to accelerate advancements across the entire field.
Research is the reason we are making progress and moving closer to unlocking some of the intricacies that make breast cancer a complex disease.
BCRF investigators have been behind every major breakthrough in breast cancer research since our founding, including leading landmark research and clinical trials that directly led the FDA to approve several treatments for MBC. And we won’t stop until we find the answers we urgently need to mitigate—and ultimately decrease—mortality from MBC.
As a founding member of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance, BCRF serves as its administrative home with our staff engaged in Alliance initiatives to advance its mission.

EVELYN H. LAUDER FOUNDER'S FUND FOR METASTATIC BREAST CANCER RESEARCH
BCRF has dedicated more than $48 million to MBC research through its flagship Evelyn H. Lauder Founder’s Fund for Metastatic Breast Cancer Research. The Founder’s Fund is a global collaboration among top breast cancer researchers working to unravel the molecular basis of metastasis. The flagship programs of the Founder’s Fund are AURORA EU and US.
BCRF’s Blog: The Progress Report
Keep up with the latest news in breast cancer research and learn about BCRF-supported developments, such as the first study detailing how breast cancer cells can manipulate natural killer immune cells to metastasize. This first-of-its-kind study was published in the Journal of Cell Biology by BCRF investigator Dr. Andrew Ewald and his team. And opened up a promising new avenue for MBC research.

Read inspiring stories about real patients impacted by research like thriver Tiffany Kinkead, who was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer after giving birth to her second daughter. Tiffany found a new purpose as a patient advocate. She is grateful that research has kept her alive since 2018, having been on multiple therapies that were approved only in the last five to 10 years.
